Your Committe are delighted to announce that Major General Arthur Denaro CBE DL has accepted our invitation to be Guest of Honour at this years Oswestry Reunion
General Denaro started his army career in 1968 commissioned into Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars. He rose through the ranks being promoted to Lieutenant in 1970 to Captain in 1974 and to Major in 1980. He was 2IC 22 SAS and also went on to be Commandant at RMAS . He led his Regiment in Gulf 1 and commanded the first tank battle. Major General Denaro went on to in 1992 command 33rd Armoured Brigade and 20th Armoured Brigade before serving as Chief of Staff of UN Protection Force in Bosnia. He also commanded British Forces in Cyprus and was Chief of Combat Support for The allied Rapid Reaction Force in Germany in 1966/67 . After work as Middle East Advisor to The Secretary of State for Defence in 1998 he became Commandant of RMAS. From 2000 to 2003 he commanded 5th Division before retireing from service. General Denaro was awarded a CBE and is also Deputy Lieutenant of Herefordshire.

The programme is as set out below and the costing will depend whether you wish a double on-suite room at the Clifton Hotel or a single room.
There will be an Informal Reunion Dinner on Saturday evening commencing with pre-dinner reception, 3 course dinner.

10.30 am Depart by own cars to Sir John Moore Barracks CT20 3HF. On arrival park your car in the large car park just outside the Main Gate. Security access will be controlled by MOD Police on the Gate. Assemble inside the gate at the designated location.

1.00 pm Lunch is available in the Mess Dining Room on a purchase your own and eat basis as the modern soldier of today’s Army currently does. The cost will depend on what you choose from the set menu that day.

The 2022 Annual Reunion to be held in Oswestry is on the weekend of 2nd through 4th September 2022

Friday 2nd September Sees the Golf and Port Societey meet at 1200hrs at Oswestry Golf Club for Coffee and Bacon Butties (and no doubt a tipple of Port)
First Tee is at 1300hrs and the day costs £38 per person. Tickets Available on the PRI Shop.
Friday Evening will see informal get togethers with a choice of Italian or Indian Meals the details of which will follow.

Saturday 3rd September sees The Association AGM commence at 1000hrs at The Wynnstay Hotel Church Street Oswestry.
Saturday Evening 1930hrs is our Reunion Dinner at The Wynnstay Hotel with the following choice of Menu.

SUNDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
Sunday Morning 1100hrs a short Memorial service will be held at The IJLB Memorial in Cae Glas Park to remember those colleagues no longer with us. After which those assembled will depart and make their way home or no doubt some to a local hostel.

The weekend of 3rd to 5th September 2021 saw 74 stalwarts take part in the IJLB 2021 Reunion. Our first since Covid struck!
Friday saw the golf competition won by Pete Curtis and both the Indian Meal and the Italian meals being a great success on Friday evening,
At Saturday’s AGM our current Chairman Brian Kilty stood down after more than 5 years service to the Association and Graham Lacey took over as Chairman.
The meeting also Appointed Graham Fowler as President after his long service as a previous Secretary and Treasurer and Ian Cartwright was appointed an Honorary Life Vice President as one of our senior members and long time supporter of The Association. Our congratulations to them all.
The Saturday Reunion Dinner was a tremendous success with our Guest of Honor Lt Colonel John Fleming, who was CO IJLB at Shorncliffe giving us all an insight to his tenure.
On Sunday everyone gathered at The IJLB Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony in bright sunlight. As RSM Dusty Smith used to remark “The Sun Shines on the Rightous”
