On Sunday 11th November 2018 Services of Remembrance will be held all over the world to honour those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the benefit of us all. As Ex-service personnel, we will all have memories of friends and colleagues on our mind as this day is very poignant to us all.
The Association Committee and many members will be attending the parade in Oswestry where our member David Fraser will lay a wreath on our behalf at the gates of memory in Cae Glas Park. Those ex Oswestry Junior Leaders will remember that as young men we sent a detachment to attend this parade on a regular basis. Our Corps of Drums led the parade on many occasions and our Buglers were on hand to sound “The Last Post and Reveille”
A Second wreath will be laid at the IJLB Memorial by a Detachment from Oswestry Schools Combined Cadet Force watched by all our members present on the day. The CCF has committed to lay wreaths at our memorial each year to honour the memory of those who served but lost their lives.
If any of our members will be attending Remembrance Parades elsewhere please let us know so that we can acknowledge the fact here.
Graham Fowler Ready for Remembrance Parade 2018
Our own Graham Foxy Fowler of Scots Guards Fame very smart as usual ready for Remembrance Parade in Brighton. A credit to The Association as usual.
Charles Derbyshire at Remembrance Parade London
Our member Charles Derbyshire with Johnson Beharry VC and Donald Smith. Johnson won his VC in Iraq and Donald was the oldest veteran on parade at 98 years o;d. Donald held off the German advance at St Valery with the Seaforth Highlanders allowing the BEF to evacuate the beaches at Dunkirk. Johnson, although seriously wounded repeatedly drove his APC through intense enemy fire to get his platoon to safety thus saving many lives. Two brave and great men!
